Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying working with everyone at wowBB! I was debating whether to go with wowBB for hosting...sooo glad I did. I moved my domain name and all, effortlessly too. The interactive control panel is really helpful and easy to work with. I was using Yahoo!, but I can honestly say there is absolutley no comparison. wowwBB is leaps and bounds better than Yahoo!

 

I have been so happy with your customer support, and now the efficiency of your hosting service makes your company quite unique. Thanks!

IMO one would be hard pressed to find a worse web host than yahoo. they can't even serve pages of their own sites without hangs, delays and lingers, never mind a hosted site, and their support is non existent.
way way back i hosted with them, every single click of a link had like a five second delay, when the site would crash you'd get a generic auto response to your support ticket,  they aren't worth 2 cents.

wow has had some issues lately that have shaken my confidence a bit but even with that they are far superior to hosts like yahoo. if they can get back to where they were a year or so ago i will again say wow's hosting is second to none.

i call'em like i see'em, i shill for no one.

You can't beat Wow's hosting for speed and ease of use.   And if we can get past these hacker and banned Aussie IP address issues it would just about perfect.

Yes, I still have Aussies that can't get on after 3 months.  But I don't directly blame Wow for it as they have higher priorities now with the hackers.   I agree that they do prioritize support issues correctly.   If they were not working on the hackers then I really would be PO'd.

I totally agree with the replies, that is why I left yahoo! and came to wowbb. Customer service was great until they deleted my forum. I had asked what I should do when I got notice of it terminating in 7 days. I was informed that I was all set and to "ignore" theed on my labors of working on my new forum. I was soooo psyched. Then I went to look at it and it was gone. 0.0 Good golly, where could it be.

 

I am on my fourth week of emailing to get resolution of this. I was told by the folks at wowbb that it was in their back up.....so, can I have it ....please.

 

Also, I went full boat and signed up for their hosting service too, one little bug. When you set your individual accounts up it takes the lowest storage space and uses that for all of the accounts, even if they have no mail. I finally got around that, but I do need my forums back, any info would be great

Here is the deal.

1. You sent us an email asking us if you needed to worry about your trial board at xxxxx.mywowbb.com expiring since you had "Paid". We replied explaining the email didn't apply to your paid account whic is here: xxxxxxx.com

We were never asked to move the data from your trial boad to your paid board, thus when it expired it was lost.

2. The communication delays, as I have said were not on our end.  We would email you and then it would take you several days to respond or your email box was full so it never got to you. There is nothing we can do when we can't get a response from you faster than a few days. One time it was 14 days before we heard back from you.

3. Luckily, your trial board was on a monthly backup from a month ago. We only caught it by a few days.  However, the monthly backup is from ALL of our server and is huge it take a long time to UNZIP the backup manually and extract a small amount of data from it. We first had to get the backup tape from the data center which takes time. Then extract the data from a file that is bigger than most people have saved on the entire computer it takes time.

4. We have had a hacker issue that has taken top priority over everything else.

I have got the backups this morning and now have to install them to your site. It should be done today.

Thank you very much

To prevent them... well don't share your passwords with anyone (except when absolutely necessary).  Change them immediately after you give someone access and they're done.  Don't download spyware that logs your login information to sites.  Download only trusted content from the internet and make sure it's a trusted site.

Don't click on links in spam emails or download any attachments from people you don't know or trust.  The list goes on.

Most importantly, make sure you check out the security of any software that you put on your site.  One vulnerable software can leave your entire site open.

I know you asked this a while ago but I thought you would like some information that would help.
