Each to their own preferences. Could it be that extra "points" are earned in the review because PHPBB is a freebie??
I am more than happy with our Wowbb board and I fail to see how it is less professional looking and you can do so many things with it to personalise it.

Phpbb3 blows wowbb out of the water and maybe the new wowbb will change that. Plus phpbb3 has way more mods at the moment too.
provides many unique features that will probably make you use it if they are vital for your community

the reasone i made two posts is because i forgot to include info in my arguement. and i apologize for coming off as so heated it's just that i saw so many ppl knocking phpbb which is a good software to use with words that were not true.

So your solution is to do the same thing to another piece of software that others think is a good piece of software? hmmmm

The single feature of WowBB which made me choose it over all others was "Watched Forums".
I wanted a replacement for a Yahoo group where members could receive the entire content of the forum by email if they wished. I couldn't find any other forum software which provided this. They all provide "notifications" of new content, but not the content itself. I believe vBulletin has since upgraded to provide this, but WowBB got there first.
The great disadvantage of phpBB is that it is free. That means that it's by far the most commonly used, and so the obvious prime target of hackers. It also means that the code is readily available to every spotty hacker in the universe to try to find its weak points.
The WowBB software is great and does everything I need. All the problems recently have not been with the software, but with the WowBB hosting service. The constant complaints about that are reflecting badly on the software itself, unjustifiably.
I don't know what the new version will be like, but I hope WowBB stop wasting their time doing what everyone else is doing, providing web hosting. And instead concentrate their time on what they do best, which is writing php software.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - THAT WILL NEVER, EVER happen. There is way way to much money in the hosting and a hell of a lot more then in the selling of the software, lol

So there might be, but it won't be WowBB making it if they don't improve their service, everyone will be migrating elsewhere.
The key to success is to do what you do best. WowBB have demonstrated recently that's the writing of software, not running a web hosting service. I've been browsing this forum for a day or two and the level of complaints about lack of service is shocking. If I was looking for a web hosting provider, this is the last place I would come.

wow, you are so wrong it is almost comical. the amount of complaints on this forum is A TINY TINY PERCENTAGE of the thousands of people hosting with wowbb who never ever ever complain. And to be honest there are only a few people who speak up at all and it is usually the same handful of people.
